Opening the new Burns&Beyond Festival Club is Scottish music legend and inspirational artist Edwyn Collins.

Recently celebrating his 60th birthday, the musician, producer and record label owner from Edinburgh, has been a pioneer of Scotland’s music scene for over 40 years. Lead singer for the 1980s post-punk band Orange Juice, which he co-founded and following the group’s split in 1985, Collins started a solo career and his 1995 single ‘A Girl Like You’ was a world-wide hit. In February 2005, Collins was hospitalised following two cerebral haemorrhages which resulted in aphasia, and he subsequently underwent an extensive rehabilitation period.  He resumed his musical career in 2007 and documentary film on his recovery, titled The Possibilities Are Endless, was released in 2014. Edwyn Collins was the co-founder of the indie record label Postcard Records and winner of the Ivor Novello Award, the Ivor Inspiration Award, in 2009.

His latest album Badbea was released in 2019 to rave reviews and critical acclaim.

“Fantastic ninth album sees Orange Juice frontman recalling past glories. Collins’ first album since 2013 sees the singer in pleasingly superb form.” Uncut – 9/10

“The man’s a marvel” Mojo – 4/5

“A record of a very fine sort” Q – 4/5
